Abstract

Elderly Family Development (EFD) is one of the government's efforts to improve family resilience in advancing society as a basis for dealing with economic and health crises caused by aging conditions. The reason for holding the Elderly Family Development (EFD) activity is due to the rapidly increasing number of elderly population, while the main factor supporting this activity is the spirit of the elderly, active and friendly cadres, local government trust, support from families with the intention of minimizing several factors that hamper elderly activities, named limited infrastructure, physical condition of the elderly, limited funding, geographical conditions, and lack of participation from the family itself. With the existence of the Elderly Family Development (BKL), it can make the elderly of Indonesia continue to be productive for the next 10 years to the age of 70 years. In addition, the elderly can also live independently, able to care themselves until the age of 80 years. After that, the elderly above 80 years can be given assistance at home or (home care) and home treatment for the elderly who are sick. The Community Service by the Lecturer (PpMD) is conducting socialization by providing an understanding of the material for the Development of Elderly Families (BKL) in realizing the seven dimensions of resilient elderly people in the Air Jernih Village, West Rengat District by increasing the welfare of the elderly through care and the role of the family in creating healthy elderly people, devoted to God Almighty, independent, productive and beneficial for families and communities (BKKBN, 2002: 7).
